Summary

Town Hall Ventures announced its fourth fund on Wednesday, a $440 million fund focused on applying new technologies including AI to support underserved populations. We think it’s a fascinating thesis given everything happening in the sector at the moment, and chatted with Town Hall Venture’s General Partner Meera Mani about focus areas for the fund.

It was interesting to learn about how she thinks about the opportunity for AI — and other new technologies like cell and gene therapies — in healthcare. Town Hall’s thesis centers around bringing together technologists with folks who have deep healthcare experience to try to move the space forward. As she mentioned, and Andy Slavitt also mentioned in a Forbes feature on the announcement, Town Hall is aiming to demonstrate that investing in this sector isn’t just an impact investment, but that it can demonstrate top returns among any venture firm. Will be worth watching the journey from here.
